TikTok Shop Seller Tiers Explained: The 4 Systems Behind Your Order

TikTok Shop seller tiers are not one ladder. TikTok Shop runs four separate tier systems, and each one gates something different: how many orders you can take per day, how fast you get paid, whether your shop carries a Star Seller badge, and which categories you can sell in. A shop can sit at the top of one system and at the bottom of another.
The money is tied to one number. Your Shop Performance Score (SPS) now decides settlement speed, Star Seller badge eligibility, and access to Affiliate Marketing, while new shops start under daily order caps that put a hard ceiling on revenue.

TL;DR: TikTok Shop Seller Tiers at a Glance

• TikTok Shop runs four tier systems: the Shop Adjustment Period (order caps for new shops), the Shop Recognition Program (Star Seller badges), the Dynamic Settlement and Reserve Policy (payout timing), and Product Listing Tiers (category access).

• New US shops start at Beginner, capped at 50 orders per day and 100 product listings. At a $35 average order value, that limits monthly revenue to about $52,500.

• An SPS of 3.5 unlocks Affiliate Marketing, Campaigns, and 5-day Accelerated Settlement. An SPS of 4.0 adds 1-day Express Settlement and Star Seller badge eligibility.

• Moving from 8-day to 1-day settlement at $50,000 in monthly GMV releases roughly $11,700 held by TikTok. That is a one-time cash release, not a monthly gain.

• Star Seller badges are assessed monthly against the prior month’s performance, so a strong final week rarely makes up for three weak ones.

What Changed and When (2025–2026 Timeline)

TikTok built these systems one at a time, and the 2026 updates tied more of them to SPS. The dates that matter for US sellers:

  • June 2025: Gold Star and Silver Star Seller badges replaced TikTok Shop’s older star-level store program for independent sellers.
  • February 2026: The four-status New Shop Probation Program (Beginner, Standard, Premium, Pro) was formalized for new shops.
  • March 2026: SPS became the sole metric TikTok uses to place shops in a settlement tier.
  • August 10, 2026: TikTok last updated its [US Seller Center page for the probation program], which still lists the 50/100/200 daily order caps.

The rules apply to every US shop. Thresholds differ in other regions, so sellers running shops in several markets need to check each region’s Seller Center separately.

TikTok Shop Seller Tiers Are Four Systems, Not One

Most of the confusion comes from TikTok’s own setup. All four systems use performance data and all four limit what you can do, but Seller Center shows each one on a different page and never lays them out side by side.

SPS vs. Account Health Rating

One more score adds to the mix. Account Health Rating, a 0 to 1,000 score that replaced Violation Points for US sellers in July 2026, tracks policy compliance rather than performance. SPS measures how well you run the shop. Account Health Rating measures whether you follow the rules.

TikTok Shop Order Limits During the Probation Period (US)

Every new US shop enters the probation program, officially the Shop Adjustment Period, as soon as onboarding is complete. TikTok says plainly that probation is not a penalty. It is still a revenue ceiling.

Daily Order Caps by Status

StatusDaily order capProduct listing limitMonthly revenue ceiling at $35 AOV
Beginner50 orders100 products$52,500
Standard100 orders200 products$105,000
Premium200 orders1,000 products$210,000
ProNo probation capNo probation limitNo probation ceiling

Revenue ceilings assume a $35 average order value and 30 selling days. They are illustrative, and limits differ outside the US.

Revenue ceilings assume a $35 average order value (AOV) and 30 selling days. They are illustrative. Limits differ outside the US.

The cap hurts most when a video takes off. A Beginner shop that hits 50 orders can’t convert the rest of that day’s demand, and creators promoting the product earn nothing on the sales the shop can’t take. That also makes a new shop less attractive to the creators it needs most.

Why Your Order Limit Can Drop Below 50

Caps can also move down. TikTok’s guide says your Order Volume Limit can drop temporarily, as low as five orders a day, during account, performance, compliance, or security reviews. TikTok states this does not necessarily mean the shop has a violation.

How to Move Up a Probation Status

Graduation has no fixed timeline. The Probation page shows a checklist of tasks for each status, and TikTok’s FAQ points to what the checklist covers: the Probation Quiz in the Learning Center, intellectual property violations on the Account Health page, and your SPS. Shops that already meet the criteria for a higher status may skip one entirely.

Treat probation as a planning window rather than a waiting room. Finish the quiz in week one, keep listings accurate, and hold back large creator pushes until the shop reaches Premium or Pro, so the first viral video doesn’t run into a 50-order wall. Our TikTok Shop Complete Guide for New Sellers (2026) covers the full launch sequence.

Shop Performance Score (SPS): The Number That Controls Everything

Your Shop Performance Score is a 0 to 5 rating that appears once your shop has at least 30 delivered orders in the past 90 days. It controls more of your TikTok Shop seller tier status than any other number.

The Six Metrics Behind Your SPS

SPS is built from six metrics across three areas:

  • Product satisfaction: Negative Review Rate, Non-Buyer Fault Return Rate
  • Fulfillment: Seller Fault Cancellation Rate, On-Time Delivery Rate
  • Customer service: IM Dissatisfaction Rate, After-Sales Handling Time

TikTok gives newer orders more weight, and each metric runs on its own review window instead of one shared window. So the score moves as orders come in, not once a month.

3.5 or higherUNLOCKSAffiliate Marketing and Campaigns eligibility, plus Accelerated Settlement (5 days after delivery)
4.0 or higherUNLOCKSExpress Settlement (1 day after delivery) and Gold/Silver Star Seller eligibility
Below 3.0REMOVESSome benefits paused or removed, including Affiliate Marketing access

SPS is a 0 to 5 score that appears once a shop has at least 30 delivered orders in the past 90 days.

The 3.0 to 3.5 band is where sellers get caught. Existing creator collaborations keep running, but you can’t add new products to the Affiliate program. TikTok’s CRM tools follow a similar pattern in that band: existing plans keep running, but you can’t create or edit them.

🔑 Did you know?
SPS 4.0 is one key with three payoffs
Express Settlement, Star Seller badge eligibility and Backorder access all sit at SPS 4.0. Most sellers treat 4.0 as a score to protect. It works more like a single key for payout speed, storefront trust and inventory flexibility.

The last 0.3 points changes cash flow and trust at the same time.

A shop at 3.7 already has Affiliate access and 5-day settlement. The last 0.3 points is worth more than it looks, because it changes cash flow and storefront trust at the same time. After-Sales Handling Time is the metric shops most often neglect.

The Monthly Evaluation Window, and Why Timing Matters

Star Seller badges are assessed once a month. TikTok’s Star Shop documentation says eligible shops receive the badge on the first day of each month based on the previous month’s performance, keep it for one month, and are then reassessed. Settlement tier changes are reported to follow a monthly review as well.

The effect on your business: an SPS gain on the 20th doesn’t change your badge until the 1st of the next month at the earliest, and only if the full assessment period clears the bar.

⚠ Timing mistake
A strong final week won’t guarantee an upgrade
Improving your SPS in the final week of the month doesn’t guarantee an upgrade on the 1st. TikTok assesses the whole period, so a strong week four rarely offsets three weak weeks.
Badges arrive on the 1st based on the previous month, last one month, then get reassessed.

Build the score across the full month.

The last two weeks still matter, for two reasons. They are the only part of the period you can still change, and SPS weights newer orders more heavily. If you’re at 3.8 and aiming for 4.0, spend those two weeks removing the orders that drag the score down: pause the SKU with the highest return rate, clear the after-sales queue daily, and skip any volume push you can’t ship on time. A promotion that doubles orders and adds late shipments costs points.

What Higher Tiers Actually Unlock

Express Settlement: Cash Released Once, Then Kept

Express Settlement pays out one day after delivery. Accelerated Settlement pays out after five days, and third-party guides put the standard period at eight days. TikTok’s settlement periods explainer adds that sellers must graduate from probation before Accelerated Settlement applies.

Here’s the math for a shop doing $50,000 in monthly GMV, or about $1,667 a day. Every day TikTok holds funds, that much cash sits in the pipeline. Moving from 8-day to 1-day settlement cuts the hold by seven days and releases about $11,700. Moving from Accelerated to Express cuts four days and releases about $6,700.

That cash is released once and stays available as long as your SPS holds at 4.0 or above. It is working capital you can put into inventory or creator campaigns, not new monthly profit.

Gold and Silver Star Seller Badges

Star badges appear on LIVEs, product pages, short videos, and search results. Reported Gold Star criteria for US independent sellers are an SPS of 4.0 or higher, a Shop Reputation Score above 10,000, a positive product-rating rate of at least 80%, at least one sellable product, and an uploaded shop logo.

Shops that meet SPS standards also show public stats, such as the share of orders shipped within two days and the share of inquiries answered within 24 hours, according to TikTok Shop’s badge announcement. TikTok hasn’t published how much a badge lifts conversion, so treat the visibility benefit as real but unmeasured.

Affiliate Marketing and Campaigns

This is the benefit sellers underestimate until they lose it. Below 3.0, TikTok pauses or removes Affiliate Marketing access, which can mean terminated collaborations and products pulled from the program. For a creator-led brand, that means rebuilding creator relationships from zero while competitors keep their slots. Shipping failures are the fastest way to get there.

Who These Tiers Affect Most

• New shops (first 90 days): The order cap is the binding limit. Shops with fewer than 30 delivered orders have no SPS yet, so SPS-gated benefits are off the table too.

• Growth-stage shops ($10,000 to $100,000 GMV per month): The 3.5 line matters most, because Affiliate access is where creator-driven sales scale.

• Established shops ($100,000+ GMV per month): Settlement speed has the largest dollar effect. At $150,000 a month, moving from 8-day to 1-day settlement releases about $35,000.

• Creator-first and LIVE-heavy sellers: A drop below 3.0 puts the entire sales channel at risk, not just one benefit.

• Multi-market sellers: Probation caps and settlement terms differ by region. A playbook built on another region’s Seller Center documentation can be wrong for a US shop.

The Selller’s Take: Four Systems Built for Four Problems

Our read, not TikTok’s stated reasoning: each system showed up as a separate problem grew. Probation caps address onboarding abuse. Listing tiers address restricted and unsafe products. Settlement holds cover payout fraud and returns. SPS gates on affiliate access push back against poor fulfillment and creator spam. The result rewards operational reliability above almost anything else, and it is confusing unless you’ve read every policy update.

The bigger shift is financial. On-time delivery and after-sales response time used to be back-office numbers. On TikTok Shop they now set how fast you get paid and whether creators can promote you.

What to Do Before the 1st

Most SPS damage starts in fulfillment, so the fixes are operational, not promotional.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are TikTok Shop seller tiers?

TikTok Shop seller tiers are four separate systems: probation order caps for new shops, Star Seller badges, settlement speed, and product listing tiers. Each gates a different part of your business, and your Shop Performance Score drives most of them.

What is the difference between SPS and Account Health Rating?

SPS measures operational performance on a 0 to 5 scale. Account Health Rating, a 0 to 1,000 score introduced for US sellers in July 2026, measures policy compliance and replaced Violation Points. A shop can score well on one and poorly on the other.

What is TikTok Shop’s Shop Performance Score?

The Shop Performance Score is a 0 to 5 rating built from six metrics covering product satisfaction, fulfillment, and customer service. It appears once a shop has at least 30 delivered orders in the past 90 days. TikTok uses it to set settlement speed, Star Seller eligibility, and Affiliate Marketing access.

How do I move up from Beginner to Standard on TikTok Shop?

Complete the tasks listed for Standard on the Probation page in Seller Center. TikTok’s guidance points to the Probation Quiz, a clean intellectual property record, and reliable fulfillment. There is no fixed timeline, so progress depends on how quickly you clear the checklist.

What is Express Settlement on TikTok Shop and how do I qualify?

Express Settlement releases your funds one day after delivery instead of five or eight. You need an SPS of 4.0 or higher, and you need to have graduated from the probation program.

What happens if my TikTok Shop SPS drops below 3.0?

TikTok pauses or removes some benefits, including Affiliate Marketing access. That can cut off creator-driven sales until the score recovers. Fixing the weakest metric first, usually return rate or after-sales response time, is the fastest route back.

What are the different seller levels on TikTok Shop?

TikTok Shop has no single seller level. New US shops move through four probation statuses: Beginner (50 orders/day), Standard (100), Premium (200), and Pro (no cap). Established independent sellers can then earn Silver or Gold Star Seller badges, which require a Shop Performance Score (SPS) of 4.0 or higher. Your SPS also sets payout speed: 3.5 unlocks 5-day settlement, and 4.0 unlocks 1-day settlement.

Why is my TikTok Shop daily order limit lower than 50?

TikTok can temporarily reduce your Order Volume Limit, sometimes to five orders a day, while it runs account, performance, compliance, or security checks. TikTok says this does not necessarily mean a violation, and it reassesses the limit periodically.

How long do TikTok Shop seller tiers last for new shops?

The probation stage of TikTok Shop seller tiers has no fixed end date. Shops graduate to Pro once they consistently meet TikTok’s performance and compliance standards, and strong early fulfillment shortens the path.

Do Fulfilled by TikTok orders affect my Shop Performance Score?

TikTok says FBT orders shouldn’t cause fluctuations in your SPS. If you suspect FBT orders are hurting your score, you can appeal with evidence.

Can I lose a Gold or Silver Star Seller badge after earning it?

Yes. Badges are reassessed every month, and a shop that misses the criteria for a month loses the badge in the following month. Recovering the badge requires a full month of qualifying performance.
